Customize error messages
What are error messages?
Every error Zru returns has an error code attached (for example MC2P-02003 or MC2P-07003). By default, when an operation fails the customer sees a generic Zru message. This section lets you override that message with your own text in several languages, aligned with your brand voice.
How to reach Error messages
- Go to Settings in the side menu.
- Click the "Error messages" tile.
The message list
From the list you can search messages by code or by text. For each message you will see three columns: Code (the error code it overrides), Text (the beginning of the custom text) and Languages (the flags of the languages it is set up in).
How to create a custom message
- Click "New message" at the top right.
- The Add modal opens.
- Pick the Error code you want to override. You can check the full list of codes at docs.zrupay.com/tools/errors.
- Write the custom text in the languages you need. There is one field for each of the 9 available languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, Catalan, German, Italian, French, Galician and Basque.
- Click "Create".
Typical use cases
- Rephrase technical messages in plain language. For example, a 3DS authentication error can be replaced with "We could not verify your card. Please try another one."
- Add instructions for the customer to contact your support team.
- Adapt the tone to your audience (B2B, B2C, regulated industries...).
Connection with Statistics
The Statistics ▶︎ Optimization section includes the Errors by type block, which shows which codes are happening most often in your account and what percentage each one represents. Those are the priority candidates to customize here: if one code accounts for most of your errors, a clear message can reduce customer friction and improve conversion.
