Add and manage Connections
What is a connection in Zru?
Zru is a payment aggregator. But beyond connecting with payment processors, it also lets you connect with other tools: anti-fraud, chargeback management, Agnostic 3DS, Network Token, etc.
That is why the section is called Connections and not simply "payment methods": you can use it to add both processors and payment management tools, all with a few clicks from the panel.
Throughout this guide we will use the term "provider" to refer to both payment methods and tools.
Difference between Connection and Payment method
In the panel we distinguish between a connection and a payment method to make management easier. Everything is grouped by provider.
Some key points:
- A connection can include one or more payment methods.
- Some connections have no payment methods, like Agnostic 3DS, which is a service provider and not a payment one.
- Payment methods always live within a connection.
- Credentials are entered once in the connection, not in each payment method separately.
Some examples:
- Redsys is a connection with three payment methods: Card, Bizum, and Card Redirect.
- dLocal is a connection with several payment methods: Card, dLocal Redirect, 7-eleven, etc.
- Inespay is a connection with a single payment method: Bank transfer.
- Agnostic 3DS is a connection with no payment methods.
Before adding a connection
Zru is a technology platform: it connects you with the provider, but you first need to have an account with them.
- In some cases we have agreements with the provider and can put you directly in touch. You will see this when adding the connection: the word "partner" will appear.
- In other cases we manage it and you do not need an account with any external provider, as with Agnostic 3DS or Network Token.
Once you have an account with the provider, they will give you credentials that you will enter in the panel to configure the connection.
✋ Keep in mind that depending on the region or country where your company is located, you may or may not be able to use certain providers, as each one operates in specific countries.
The Connections list
Go to the Connections section in the left side menu. You will see two tabs: Active and Deactivated.
You can switch between grid view and list view using the toggle in the top right corner. In list view, the columns are:
- Connection: provider name.
- Gateways: active methods within that connection.
- Use: two icons showing whether the connection is being used in orchestrations and/or checkouts.
- Connection date: when it was added.
How to add a connection?
The process is divided into three steps:
Step 1: Connection
- Go to the Connections section in the left side menu.
- Click "New connection".
- Select the connection you are interested in. You can use the search bar or filter by All currencies and All categories.
- Click "Connect".
Step 2: Credentials
- Enter the Connection name. It will help you identify it if you have more than one connection with this provider.
- Fill in the credentials provided by the provider.
✋ If you are in a test environment, enter test credentials. If it is a production environment, use production credentials.
In test environments, if the processor supports it, you will see the "Credentials from [processor]" section with two options:
- My credentials: use your own test credentials for the processor.
- Zru credentials: Zru provides sandbox credentials. Useful to start testing without needing your own account with the processor.
- Expand Advanced settings to access the Internal code field if needed.
- If you want the connection to start as disabled, toggle off "Status after integration".
- Click "Next".
Step 3: Methods
- Select the payment methods you want to activate within the connection.
- Click "Add Method".
Once the connection is created, you can use it in your Orchestrations and/or Checkouts.
Connection details
Clicking on a connection shows the details breadcrumb "Connection list" and the active methods table. For each method you can see:
- Completed / Uses: number of completed payments over total uses.
- Payments: total volume processed.
- Conversion: conversion rate for that method.
From here you can also remove a method using the trash icon. To add more methods, click "Add Method" at the top right.
Connection settings
Inside a connection's details, click the "Settings" button at the top right. A modal titled "Settings [provider]" will open with:
- Connection name field.
- Credentials fields.
- Advanced settings accordion: includes the Internal code field.
- Connection status toggle: Activated / deactivated.
- Buttons: Cancel and Update.
🧐 The internal code is sent in the notification inside_gateway, in theinternal_codefield. Useful if you need to identify which connection a payment came from in your systems.
How to enable or disable a connection?
To disable a connection
- Go to the Connections section.
- Click on the connection you want to disable, inside the Active tab.
- Click "Settings" at the top right, scroll to "Connection status" and toggle it off.
- Click "Update".
The connection will move to the Deactivated tab.
To enable a connection
- Go to the Connections section.
- Click on the Deactivated tab.
- Click on the connection you want to enable.
- Click "Settings" at the top right, scroll to "Connection status" and toggle it on.

How to edit a connection?
- Go to Connections, click on the connection.
- Click "Settings" at the top right.
- Change the parameters you need and click "Update".
Can I delete a connection?
Currently it is not possible to delete a connection. If you no longer need it, keep it disabled. You can always re-enable it later.
Where can I use connections?
The payment methods within each connection (or the connection itself if it is not a payment processor) will be available as an option when configuring your Orchestrations and Checkouts.
